Water as Leverage Khulna
Design study aiming for implementation of innovative, bankable measures to tackle urban water challenges
The Special Envoy for International Water Affairs, Henk Ovink and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) have taken on the challenge of addressing water crises in urban areas. The programme Water as Leverage for Resilient Cities Asia is collaborating with the cities of Chennai (India), Khulna (Bangladesh) and Semarang (Indonesia) to tackle urban water-related challenges in an innovative and inclusive way.
Defacto in collaboration with CDR international, Nelen & Schuurmans, DevConsultant, Khulna University, RoyalHaskoningDHV, Wageningen University and Research; has been working on the Khulna, Bangladesh case to develop a programme which focuses on developing innovative, bankable and implementable design proposals.
Actual implementation is the final aim. Therefore, Water as Leverage has entered a partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the Dutch Development Bank FMO, 100ResilientCities, Partners for Resilience, Architecture Workroom Brussels, International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam and the Global Center on Adaptation. Furthermore, Water as Leverage for Resilient Cities Asia is supported by the UN/World Bank High Level Panel on Water.

Speciaal gezant voor Internationale Wateraangelegenheden, Henk Ovink en Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO.nl, namens het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken) zijn de uitdaging aangegaan om de watercrisis in stedelijke gebieden aan te pakken. Het programma Water as Leverage for Resilient Cities Asia werkt samen met de steden Chennai (India), Khulna (Bangladesh) en Semarang (Indonesië) om stedelijke water gerelateerde uitdagingen op een innovatieve en inclusieve manier aan te pakken.
Defacto in samenwerking met CDR international, Nelen & Schuurmans, DevConsultant, Khulna University, RoyalHaskoningDHV, Wageningen University and Research; heeft gewerkt aan het project in Khulna, Bangladesh om een programma te ontwikkelen dat zich richt op het ontwikkelen van innovatieve, betaalbare en implementeerbare ontwerpvoorstellen.
Daadwerkelijke uitvoering is het uiteindelijke doel. Daarom is Water as Leverage een samenwerking aangegaan met de Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, de Nederlandse Ontwikkelingsbank FMO, 100ResilientCities, Partners for Resilience, Architecture Workroom Brussels, International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam en het Global Centre on Adaptation. Verder wordt Water as Leverage for Resilient Cities Asia ondersteund door het High Level Panel on Water van de VN/Wereldbank.
